Associate head coach Phil Martelli has been leading Michigan’s team while Howard recovers. The Wolverines are 5-5 under his leadership.
According to TheWolverine.com , Howard is expected to return to his role as head coach this Saturday against Eastern Michigan.
Howard has been targeting Dec. 16 as his return date, per former Fab Five teammate Jalen Rose.

It’s been an interesting year for Howard, who reportedly got involved in an incident with strength and conditioning coach Jon Sanderson last week.
Obviously, Howard made headlines in 2022 when he had a wild altercation with Wisconsin assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft.
Howard has taken the Wolverines to the Elite Eight since being named head coach in 2019. He’s also missed the NCAA Tournament entirely.
We’ll see if Howard can turn things around in Ann Arbor starting this Saturday.
