The streaming service announced that its “UNTOLD” series will feature Connor Stalions.
Netflix announced it is set to release a fresh lineup of “UNTOLD” sports documentaries this summer, including a new installment focusing on former staffer Connor Stalions and the Michigan sign-stealing controversy.
The documentary, titled “Sign Stealer,” is scheduled to debut on Netflix on Aug. 27. According to a post made by the streaming service’s social media, “Connor Stalions shares his side of Michigan’s alleged sign-stealing scheme that turned him into a viral villain.”
UNTOLD is back with three new sports stories that go well beyond the headlines.
The Murder of Air McNair (Aug 20): Capturing the Titans’ 2000 Super Bowl run and unanswered questions surrounding McNair’s 2009 murder.

Stalions was the focal point of the NCAA’s investigation into alleged sign-stealing during Michigan’s most recent championship run. He resigned from his position on Nov. 3 following a suspension without pay during the investigation.
Previously listed as a recruiting analyst, Stalions joined the Michigan football program in 2022 and is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy. Several Big Ten schools discovered ticket purchases in Stalions’ name for their games, along with surveillance footage of individuals in those seats using cell phones to record the field.
While the NCAA does not explicitly prohibit sign-stealing, it has rules against using electronic devices to record opponents’ signals and against in-person, advanced scouting of future opponents during the season. As the investigation continues on, whether the organization ultimately decides to make anything of the case remains to be seen.
It will be really interesting to hear what Stalions has to say about his role in this saga. We have not heard from Stalions since he resigned last fall, as the only statement on the record was put out by his attorney the day he resigned, which read:
“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to work with the incredible student athletes, coach Harbaugh and the other coaches that have been a part of the Michigan football family during my tenure. I do not want to be a distraction from what I hope to be a championship run for the team, and I will continue to cheer them on.”
Even more interesting is the fact this documentary will be released the week leading up to Michigan’s first game of the 2024 season against Fresno State. Hopefully this won’t provide a major distraction for the team as it prepares to defend its national title.
