Michigan is reportedly preparing a massive NIL offer to try and flip a five-star recruit.
According to TheWolverine.com , part of On3, Michigan is prepared to offer $10.5 million over four years to LSU quarterback commit Bryce Underwood.
This would be a major story if this happened and would show the country that NIL continues to be an unstoppable force. The top programs use NIL to their advantage while the smaller programs can only do so much.
It goes to show how much Michigan likes this player, especially if they’re willing to offer almost $11 million over a four-year span.
This new report got the college football community talking in a big way on Thursday.
“This is more than the Cowboys have given to an outside free agent in a nearly decade,” one tweet read .
“The kid is from Michigan & JJ McCarthy was just a Top 10 pick. If you have to offer a HOMETOWN kid $10,500,000 to come play for you especially when you just had a QB go Top 10 in the draft last season, it just shows how much he WANTS to be at LSU. It’s time to hit the portal hard for a QB at Michigan and give this one up. You’ve never played the NIL game this way and you’re shelling $10,500,000 for one person? Better off getting multiple Top 100 recruits for that price tag. Sherrone has done an excellent job recruiting even without that kind of money,” another tweet read .
“Having to offer him this much to have a chance just shows how much Bryce Underwood doesn’t want to go to Michigan,” another fan tweeted .
“Brian Kelly goes on the hot seat immediately if he lets this kid go,” another fan tweeted .
“This should concern LSU fans. How often does a player pass up the best offer in professional sports? Very rarely. This is a professional sport now,” another fan tweeted .
Underwood is the top overall recruit in the 2025 recruiting class, per 247Sports composite rankings .
We’ll see if Michigan actually makes that offer before National Signing Day.
