The quarterback position has been a consistent issue for Jim Harbaugh at Michigan .
Several quarterbacks have transferred in and out of the Michigan program during Harbaugh’s time in Ann Arbor. Another quarterback did the same earlier this week, as Joe Milton announced his intentions to leave. Milton started multiple games for Michigan during the 2020 season.
“I want to thank Coach Harbaugh for giving me that opportunity to come play for a program with lots of tradition,” Milton wrote in a statement on Twitter. “I have bonds with my brothers that will last forever, I have decided to enter the transfer portal as a Grad transfer with three years of eligibility.”
Milton is just the latest notable quarterback to transfer out of Michigan’s program. The Wolverines have had several transfers over the course of Harbaugh’s tenure.
All but 1 of Michigan’s starting QBs (McNamara) have either transferred IN or OUT during Jim Harbaugh era:
Rudock — IN (Iowa)
Speight — OUT (UCLA)
O’Korn — IN (Houston)
Peters — OUT (Illinois)
Patterson — IN (Ole Miss)
Milton — OUT (???)McCaffrey also left (N. Colorado)

FOX Sports 1’s Colin Cowherd is “mystified” by this.
“Still mystified why Harbaugh, a former NFL QB, can’t ever quite get the position right at Michigan,” he tweeted.

It is odd that Harbaugh hasn’t developed a multi-year starter at quarterback within the Michigan program.
But perhaps that quarterback is on his way to Ann Arbor. Fans are certainly excited about the future of a five-star quarterback commitment .
