Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy is one of the top quarterbacks heading into the 2024 NFL Draft.
He’s not expected to be picked in the top five, but he’s still expected to be a first-round pick.
With that in mind, FS1’s Colin Cowherd thinks McCarthy would be a great fit with the Minnesota Vikings at No. 11 overall.
“Much cheaper version of Kirk Cousins wth more athletic ability. The team’s got an offensive head coach, this would allow them — with a cheaper option at quarterback — to retain Justin Jefferson, and they have Jordan Addison and T.J. Hockenson. Those are good weapons, plus a great left tackle [Christian Darrisaw]. In that division, you’ve got to score points,” Cowherd wrote .
McCarthy led Michigan to its first national title since 1997 back in January and was one of the top quarterbacks in the country this season. He completed 72.3% of his passes for 2,991 yards through the air, 22 touchdowns, and four interceptions.
We’ll have to see if he makes it to 11th overall and if the Vikings pick him when the 2024 NFL Draft gets underway on Apr. 25.
It’ll take place from Apr. 25-27 from Detroit, Michigan.
