Charting every pass QB Bryce Underwood made during Michigan Football’s spring game

Bryce Underwood played the entire spring game. Here’s a breakdown of every throw Underwood made.

True freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood played the entire game for the Blue team in Michigan’s spring game. Underwood, the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2025 class, showed his potential and also showed he has room for improvement. After all, he’s still just 17 years old.

Since the spring game won’t be on television until next week we decided to chart all of Underwood’s therows throughout the afternoon.

Underwood’s spring game

  • Completed a screen pass for a three-yard loss 1-of-1
  • Incomplete pass on an out route to T.J. Metcalf 1-of-2
  • Incomplete pass deep to Channing Goodwin. overthrown, but probably a good thing it was, Goodwin was double covered 1-of-3
  • Underwood rolls out to the right and takes the check down to Justice Haynes for four yards. 2-of-4
  • Underwood throws deep left to Channing Goodwin again. The ball lands out of bounds by a wide margin. 2-of-5
  • Underwood throws to Channing Goodwin on a curl. Well-timed and on the money for an 11-yard gain. 3-of-6
  • Underwood hits Goodwin on a curl for the second consecutive play for a 15-yard gain. 4-of-7
  • Underwood throws to Fredrick Moore and the play is broken up. 4-of-8
  • Underwood finds a wide-open Jalen Hoffman for 12 yards to set Michigan up with 1st and Goal. 5-of-9
  • Underwood rips one into the end zone and throws it right on the money to Joe Taylor, but Taylor can’t hang on 5-of-10
  • Underwood throws into the end zone again, but way above Channing Goodwin’s head out of bounds. 5-of-11
  • Underwood throws to the flat, where he finds Jalen Hoffman for a short gain. 6-of-12
  • Underwood finds Jalen Hoffman sitting underneath for a short gain. 7-of-13
  • Throws to the flat, but it’s an incomplete pass after Fredrick Moore drops the ball. 7-of-14
  • Underwood throws deep to Channing Goodwin but it’s nowhere near him and the ball is intercepted by Tevis Metcalf. 7-of-15
  • Underwood passes eight yards to Jalen Hoffman for nine yards. 8-of-16
  • Underwood has a great timed ball on an intermediate slant to Hoffman with tight coverage on Hoffman. 9-of-17
  • Undrwood throws incomplete to Jamar Browder on the goal line. 9-of-18
  • Underwood has an open Bryce Wilcox open down the seam, but he overthrows it and it’s incomplete. 9-of-19
  • Underwood delivers a strike to Andrew Marsh for a moderate gain. 10-of-20
  • Underwood lets it rip deep along the sideline to Jamar Browder. It’s an accurate ball; it even hits Browder’s hands, but it falls incomplete. 11-of-21
  • Underwood throws to Hoffman on a checkdown for a 16-yard gain. 12-of-22
  • With the ball at the 46, Underwood has Channing Goodwin streaking down the field and it should have been a touchdown, but Underwood overthrows an open Goodwin with the ball sailing out of the back of the end zone. The ball traveled over 60 yards in the air. 12-of-23
  • Underwood throws an errant pass to Wilcox on a screen. 12-of-24
  • Underwood throws to Goodwin underneath. The ball is tipped, and Goodwin takes a big hit on the play. 12-of-25
  • The final play of the game ends with Underwood’s best play of the game. On a flea-flicker, Underwood hits Jalen Hoffman for an 88-yard touchdown. This gives Underwood and the Blue team a 17-0 win over the Maize team. 12-of-26

UNDERWOOD’S FINAL STATS: 12-of-26 for 187 yards with one passing touchdown and one interception
