Last weekend, Charles Barkley offered his brief thoughts on the Rose Bowl between No. 1 Michigan and No. 4 Alabama.
Barkley, an Auburn legend, was asked about the Rose Bowl while on ESPN’s broadcast for a USC-Auburn men’s basketball game.
Unsurprisingly, Barkley will be rooting against Alabama on New Year’s Day.
“I can’t root for Alabama under any circumstances,” Barkley said, via On3 . “I love Coach Saban. He’s been great to me. But I can never root for Alabama under any circumstances.”
Barkley then took things a bit too far and said, “I told you if they played Afghanistan, I’d be pulling for Afghanistan.”

Well, there you have it. Barkley will be pulling for the Wolverines to make it to the national championship game, and we can’t blame him. He’s seen the Crimson Tide win more than enough titles over the past 15 years.
Kickoff for the Rose Bowl is at 5 p.m. ET. Oddsmakers have Michigan listed as a slight favorite over Alabama.
