Michigan’s reward for knocking off Purdue on Friday night is a rematch with Maryland. The team that beat the Wolverines in the Crisler Center, 71-65, ten days ago and blitzed Illinois on Friday night, 88-65.
The Terps are playing as well as any team in the Big Ten right now and look ready to make noise in this tournament and the real one next week.
According to Bart Torvik , the Terps have the No. 2 defense in the country over the last ten games. They’ve closed the season on a 12-2 run and have arguably the best starting five in the conference.
It’s a matchup fit for semifinal Saturday in the Big Ten, where the four teams most involved in the conference title race throughout the year will tangle back-to-back on CBS. It’s also a chance for Michigan to avenge one of the most deflating performances of an otherwise promising season.
