From winning the Heisman to bringing a National Championship to Michigan, Bryce Underwood has big goals, including wanting to be QB1 his freshman campaign:
Michigan Wolverines true freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood has a major spotlight on him — that’s what comes with being the No. 1 overall recruit and No. 1 quarterback in the 2025 class. Underwood is already in Ann Arbor and will be taking part in spring practices this month as an early enrollee.
Underwood will have competition for QB1 duties. He’ll be going up against Mikey Keene, a transfer from Fresno State, as well as redshirt freshman Jadyn Davis. While appearing on the Rich Eisen Show, Underwood expressed whether he’d like to be the starter right out of the gate in 2025, which is a home tilt against New Mexico on August 30.
“You’d like to be the guy in Week 1, right?” Eisen asked Underwood.
“Definitely,” Underwood replied.

Underwood said that he’s going to work for everything he has to earn while also noting two of his biggest goals at Michigan.
“A couple Heismans and at least one natty,” Underwood said.
Those are big goals for Underwood, but it’s also why players come to Michigan, a team that won the National Championship in January of 2024. However, Underwood’s path to bigger goals begin with earning the starting quarterback job, something he hasn’t done yet.
Fans can see Underwood in action at Michigan Stadium for the first time next month at Michigan’s Spring Game, which takes place on April 19.
