Blue-collar mentality, Team 144’s national championship inspire Wolverine Brand’s limited edition footwear

July 25, 2024 by Maize n Brew

These are a must-have for any Michigan football fan!

Launched today (Thursday, July 25), the University of Michigan football team has collaborated with Wolverine Brand to create a brand new pair of boots that fans of the maize and blue are sure to love!

The Wolverine Brand has created the “Team #144 Commemorative 1000 Mile Boot” to celebrate the undefeated 2023 national champs. The company has been making boots for more than 100 years and are made right here in the United States, so you know what you’re getting is the highest quality material.

A really cool feature of these boots is that in each box, you will find messaging that says, “Don’t Stop Until The Job Is Finished,” an homage to Blake Corum’s famous “Job’s Not Finished” mantra prior to the 2023 season.

A portion of the proceeds for each pair of boots sold will directly support Champions Circle, one of the official Name, Image and Likeness partners at U-M.

Courtney Clancy, the director of digital marketing for Wolverine Brand — and a former walk-on for the University of Michigan cross country and track teams — says the Michigan boot has been in the works since last fall, with the first pair being given to former head coach Jim Harbaugh at a signing day event in support of skilled trades students.

“We had factory create a pair of boots for (Harbaugh) as a thank you gift as he headed into the 2023 season with Team 144.,” Clancy said. “Fast forward to January, the team won the National Championship, so what better way is there to introduce this boot to the public?”

Wolverine Brand has partnered with eight Michigan football players ahead of the 2024 season — Will Johnson, Mason Graham, Colston Loveland, Donovan Edwards, Alex Orji, Max Bredeson, Ben Hall and Blake Frazier. These players, according to Clancy, were picked to be brand representatives because they share the blue-collar work ethic that the folks over at Wolverine Brand have.

When Wolverine Brand launched its first campaign with U-M in 2022, they had just one player as a brand rep — running back Blake Corum. Their relationship “clicked from the start,” according to Clancy, because of “his blue-collar upbringing.”

“(Corum) identified with the blue-collar spirit and he was a perfect fit,” she said. “As we planned for the 2023 campaign, we wanted more guys like him that embody that mentality. Each player (we partner with) may not necessarily have a blue-collar upbringing, but there’s something about the way they play or something in their spirit that fits in with Wolverine Brand. “All eight (players in this year’s campaign) reflect that hard-work DNA.”

The Wolverine Brand will also soon be launching their Maize and Blue Collar Campaign with the eight players they have partnered with for this upcoming season. There will be a full lineup of boots and apparel that are all U-M branded, just like the Team #144 Commemorative 1000 Mile Boot.

So what are you waiting for?! Support the University of Michigan’s student-athletes by buying a pair of these boots today! These won’t last very long, as there are only a limited amount of boots available. You can find them and much more at Wolverine.com/bluecollar .
