The beloved video game franchise is finally returning this summer.
The world of college football has changed tremendously over the past decade. Realignment, the College Football Playoff, NIL, the transfer portal, and mega television contracts are just some of the substantial ways that the sport has continued to evolve seemingly every year. Yet despite all of these changes, one thing has remained absent since 2013: a college football video game.
Indeed, NCAA Football 14 was the last installment in EA Sports’ franchise, with that drought finally ending this July. Denard Robinson’s appearance on that game’s cover gives way to Donovan Edwards, who will serve as one of three main athletes to take center stage on the front of College Football 25. While the Madden franchise has been alive and well, college football finally returns to Xbox and PlayStation in just a few months.
Are you planning on playing College Football 25?
I loved the NCAA Football series, but it has been a long time since those games were around (I think I spent the most time playing the 2003 edition…). For some of us, life has changed a lot since then, and likely some gaming habits as well. However, if there was a game that would make me want to jump back in, College Football 25 is absolutely it. As more and more details start to emerge , it sounds like EA truly went all out for the return of this desperately wanted game.
As an added bonus, Michigan coming off of a national championship just feels like perfect timing. Not only will that be integrated into some of the visuals and gameplay — in addition to Edwards’ cover feature — but it just makes it even more exciting to enter into a virtual world that will forever begin with the Wolverines as the reigning champions. The stars have aligned for gamers who are Michigan fans.
