Alabama players evaluate Michigan’s offense
When it comes to Alabama’s defense, they had nothing but good things to say about Michigan’s offense on Saturday morning at the Rose Bowl media day.
“I feel like that offense is very efficient in what they do running the ball and stuff like that,” linebacker Dallas Turner told Maize n Brew. “They can also pass the ball as well. Very sneaky. Having a quarterback like J.J. McCarthy, a real field general, he is good at what he does with his legs and his arm.”
Turner also commended Michigan’s experienced offensive line, he called Michigan’s Blake Corum a “great running back” and “explosive.”
When asked what makes Michigan’s offense “very sneaky”, Turner pointed to something Michigan fans know very well.
“They’ll try to lull you to sleep with the run, run, run, and then they take the shot,” Turner said.
Alabama cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry agreed with Turner that Michigan’s offense is sneaky while also saying the unit is “physical” and “have a great connection with each other.”
“I feel like the offense is sneaky. They do a good job at what they do,” McKinstry said. “I feel like the offensive coordinator understands them, so I feel like it makes them a better team.”
McKinstry went on to talk about Michigan quarterback McCarthy and what makes him talented.
“I feel like he can make all the throws. I feel like he can hit the ball into all the windows, tight windows, open windows,” McKinstry said. “I feel like he’s a good player.”
No bulletin board material from these two Alabama standouts, just good old-fashioned football analysis. Alabama’s defense ranks No. 18 in total defense, No. 17 in scoring defense, No. 32 in rushing defense, and No. 23 in passing defense. The Crimson Tide D is good, but so is Michigan’s offense — Turner knows ‘Bama will have their work cut out for them.
“That offense overall, it’s going to be a challenge to play them on Monday,” Turner said.
Per DraftKings Sportsbook , Michigan’s currently a 1.5-point favorite over Alabama in the Rose Bowl.
