Michigan Football’s recruiting efforts have recently been impeded by self-imposed restrictions, but that is all behind us now. Here are five recruits the staff should make an in-home visit with prior to official visit season:
Head coach Sherrone Moore’s two-game absence this upcoming fall is not the only element of Michigan Football’s self-imposed penalties. He and the rest of the coaching staff has seen their recruiting efforts hindered as part of a contact ban. This comes at a crucial time, with the spring contact period wrapping up on May 29.
But now that Michigan’s contact ban is over, the Wolverines are behind the eight ball on the recruiting trail and need to make up for lost time prior to official visit season. Here are five prospects Moore and company should prioritize for in-home visits over the next week.
Five-star RB Savion Hiter
The Mineral, Virginia native and top-20 nationally ranked player is probably the most coveted prospect for Michigan in this class. Hiter has an official visit scheduled to Ann Arbor the weekend of June 13, but will also visit Georgia, Tennessee and Ohio State . It is imperative that running backs coach Tony Alford make further good impressions on Hiter and his family prior to his official visit.
Four-star ATH CJ Sadler
Cass Tech’s two-way star (defensive back/wide receiver) is a top-100 player and the No. 1 recruit in Michigan. Sadler has not yet picked a date for his official visit, making an in-home visit even more important. The Wolverines have longed for elite talent on the perimeter, and while Sadler may be restricted to offensive duties in college, he would make for an excellent target for Bryce Underwood.
Four-star edge Carter Meadows
Meadows included Michigan, South Carolina, Penn State and Ohio State in his top four list and has set visits for all those schools. At 6-foot-6, 215 pounds, Meadows fits the Wolverines’ defensive line billing, which has routinely attracted and developed fantastic players. Another top-100 player , he would become the marquee commit at the position for Michigan in 2026.
Four-star CB commit Brody Jennings
The corner from Jacksonville, Florida, has been committed to Michigan since July 2024, but he is not closing the door on other schools. Jennings is coming off a weekend official visit to Auburn and recently told 247Sports his commitment to Michigan is “pretty good…but I’m seeing schools.”
Much to chagrin of Moore, the Wolverines need to crank up the pressure and ensure Jennings stays in this 2026 class. We all know “commitment” means less and less every day, and a potential flip would be disastrous. Maybe another trip home will erase any doubts he might have about Michigan.
Four-star S Blake Stewart
The Wolverines are prioritizing the top-40 safety from Atlanta, Georgia, and that is being rewarded with an official visit the weekend of June 20. Stewart visited Ann Arbor back in March and had this to say, via On3 :
“Man, the visit to Michigan was amazing. It was my first time up there, and I loved every minute of it.” … “The hospitality was great and you can tell they treat each other like family.”
Stewart is also involved with southern schools like Miami, Clemson and SMU, so an in-home visit could do wonders for his recruitment heading into his official visit.
