Fall camp will be here before we know it. Here are the 5 Michigan football players too many are sleeping on ahead of the 2025 season.
After an up-and-down season in 2024, the Michigan Wolverines are ready to show they’ve built on the momentum they had at the end of the season. But in order to take the next step, some players are going to have to up their game.
Here are five players we think are underrated heading into 2025.
Semaj Morgan, WR
When you look at the stats, Morgan didn’t have the jump many of us expected as a sophomore, but there’s still room for him to make a mark on the program. The addition of offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey is key for putting Morgan in better positions to succeed. Lindsey is known for utilizing talent he has on the roster, and with Morgan showing his abilities as a freshman, it is more than possible he bounces back in 2025.
Andrew Marsh, WR
The freshman wide receiver has a chance to make some waves as a first-year player. The four-star recruit was a target for Bryce Underwood in the spring game, and he showed why the Wolverines recruited him as hard as they did.
While it looks like Donaven McCulley has the best chance at WR1, Marsh could be a young player we see on the field a lot in 2025, and nobody should be underrating him just because we haven’t seen him play a full season yet.

Rayshaun Benny, DL
Benny only had 29 tackles last season, including 3.5 tackles for loss. Still, he had four quarterback hurries in three of Michigan’s biggest games: Texas, Ohio State, and Alabama. With Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant off to the NFL, this should be a big year for Benny, yet not many in the national media are talking about him this offseason.
Brandyn Hillman, DB
When it comes to Michigan’s secondary, the addition of the Metcalf brothers and questions surrounding Rod Moore’s injury status have taken over the focus from some of the other returning players. Don’t let that overshadow what Brandyn Hillman accomplished in 2025.
While Hillman only had 21 tackles last year, he showed improvement throughout the course of the season, which was capped off by a solid performance in the ReliaQuest Bowl.

Giovanni El-Hadi, OL
Michigan’s offensive line did not live up to expectations in 2024, but El-Hadi has a chance to really shine in 2025 as a fifth-year senior. He’s got a full year under his belt as a starter, and he’s moving back to the left side of the line after starting at right guard last year. With some of the younger guys like Andrew Babalola and Andrew Prague getting a ton of attention this offseason, the All-Big Ten honoree still has a chance to make a statement this season.
