BOOOOOM! Four-star CB Andre Clarke has committed to Michigan! The Top-200 overall prospect is the second defensive back to commit to the Wolverines’ 2026 class:

Announced on social media on Monday afternoon, 2026 four-star cornerback Andre Clarke has committed to the Michigan Wolverines .

BREAKING: Four-Star Safety Andre Clarke Jr. has Committed to Michigan, he tells me for @on3recruits

The 6’1 185 S from Richmond, VA chose the Wolverines over Kentucky, Florida State, & SMU

This commitment has been anticipated since his official visit a few weeks ago, with The Michigan Insider’s Sam Webb and On3’s EJ Holland both recording predictions in favor of Michigan just a couple days after that trip.

Clarke earned his offer from Michigan about a year ago, but this recruitment really picked up within the last couple months. The Wolverines hosted him for an official visit the weekend of Father’s Day, which clearly had a positive impact.

“They are definitely up there,” Clarke told Holland ($) following that official visit. “Probably No. 1. I can see myself playing there and being there.”

Kentucky was the main competition, but Michigan also beat out Miami, SMU and others for Clarke’s services. A Richmond, Virginia native, Clarke ranks 177th overall and No. 5 in his home state on 247Sports’ composite.

247Sports’ Clint Brewster wrote an evaluation on Clarke earlier this month and had this to say:

Clarke is a premier level playmaker in the defensive secondary with the ability to play both cornerback and safety. Very desirable combination of instincts, athleticism, and tackling ability. Clarke can mirror and match receivers in coverage but also play center field safety and read the quarterback with great timing and leaping ability on passes downfield. Plays heady and aware of down and distance in the passing game but can also come up and lay explosive hits on ball carriers. Clarke is more thin-framed but shows more strength and toughness than his size insists. Clarke’s playmaking ability and coverage chops project him to a mid to early round NFL draft choice projection.

The Wolverines own the No. 8 overall class in 2026, just ahead of Alabama and one spot behind Clemson. Clarke is the 18th overall player and the second defensive back to commit to Michigan, as he joins four-star cornerback Brody Jennings.
