On the 247Sports composite , the Newburgh, Indiana native is ranked 659th in the 2025 class, 75th among defensive linemen and 10th among recruits from the Hoosier state. The Wolverines made quick on this flip, offering Patterson just a few weeks ago .
Patterson was set to visit USC this week, but this commitment takes that visit off the board. Count that as another win for Sherrone Moore over Lincoln Riley this fall.
Patterson was among the dozens of recruits in Ann Arbor for the biggest recruiting weekend of the season, as the Wolverines picked up a much-needed win over the Michigan State Spartans in front of talented, impressionable players.
“The visit has been amazing,” Patterson’s father told Steve Wiltfong with On3 ($) . “The culture has been very impressive. You can tell why players commit here. The Big House exceeded expectations. It was the loudest arena we’ve ever been in. The fans are passionate and love their team. The program is something special and it’s definitely high on the list.”
Including Patterson, the Michigan Wolverines now rank 14th among teams in the 2025 recruiting class. He’ll join a group of defensive linemen that includes four-star Jaylen Williams , four-star Julius Holly and three-star Bobby Kanka , giving the Wolverines four players who can develop into solid players.
Michigan could use more defensive linemen long-term, with key pieces in Mason Graham, Josiah Stewart and Kenneth Grant all eligible to leave for the NFL Draft . Building through the trenches is how Michigan has kept the cupboards full over the last 5+ seasons, and under Moore, they’ll clearly keep prioritizing that.
We’re excited to see Patterson in Ann Arbor, and stay with Maize n Brew for the latest recruiting updates, as Michigan continues to try and flip several talented players, including a certain highly-ranked quarterback .
