At 6-foot-4 and 331 pounds, Grant was a force to be reckoned with during his time at Michigan. A “gift from the football gods,” as Jim Harbaugh said, Grant spent three years in Ann Arbor and anchored the defense particularly in his sophomore and junior seasons.
Grant played sparingly as a true freshman in 2022 before bursting onto the scene in 2023. During the national championship run, he tallied 29 tackles, five tackles for loss, four pass deflections, 3.5 sacks, one fumble recovery and one interception. As a junior in 2024, he racked up 32 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, five pass deflections, three sacks and two fumble recoveries.
He only participated in the bench press at the NFL Combine this year, where putting up 22 reps . While his testing numbers were a bit disappointing, Grant still possesses tantalizing potential and has the ability to be an elite player at his position.
He is larger than the average defensive tackle in the NFL, but he doesn’t play like he’s carrying extra weight. There’s also been some criticism about Grant’s ability to make an impact instantly, but in my opinion, he has as high of a ceiling as any of them.
Grant is a powerful player and has an incredible ability to locate the ball. If he’s not making a play on the quarterback, he’s hunting for the ball. He’s got fumble recoveries and an interception in his college career, which shows his ability to scan the field.
