JUST IN: Michigan edge rusher Josaiah Stewart was selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft! MORE:
With the No. 90 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft , the Los Angeles Rams selected Michigan Wolverines edge rusher Josaiah Stewart in the third round.
Stewart transferred to Michigan ahead of the 2023 season after two years at Coastal Carolina. He compiled 16 sacks during his two years at Coastal Carolina, and he nearly matched it (14 sacks) during his time at Michigan.
Stewart was second on the team in sacks (5.5) in 2023, and that was as a reserve edge rusher. He followed that up with a monster senior year in which he led the team in sacks (8.5) while also compiling 13 tackles for loss and 33 total tackles. His overall PFF defensive grade of 91.2 led the team and was tied for ninth in the country, while his 92.3 pass rush grade was 11th in the nation.
The incredible part is that Stewart did all of that despite his smaller stature (6-foot-1, 245 pounds). He was constantly in the backfields of Michigan opponents, being disruptive in both the pass and the run. He was able to do it in a multitude of ways, whether it was blazing by offensive tackles or pushing back blockers with his brute strength. He did it every which way against USC this past fall.
Josaiah Stewart (#0) pass rush tape vs USC is unbelievable
He used his quickness on that inside counter/club multiple times to win instantly
8 pressures, 4 QB hits, 2 sacks

Stewart was a hugely impactful addition to the Wolverines’ edge room the past couple years, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see him continue that in the NFL.
Stewart isn’t a one-trick pony that wins with speed alone — there’s power in his arsenal as well as tenacity. More NFL teams are using a rotation at edge-rusher than ever before and even if Stewart doesn’t become a starter he could still be a major contributor on defense. His game film was often excellent in 2024 and if he can have the pass-rush win-rate in the NFL it’ll mean he’ll become one of the steals of the 2025 NFL Draft.
