The 6-foot-6, 265-pounder included Michigan in his top-four earlier this month and went on his official visit to Ann Arbor the weekend of June 8 , one of a few defensive linemen to visit that weekend . He’s been in contact with defensive line coach Lou Esposito since April .
On the 247Sports composite , Williams ranks 236th overall in the 2025 class, 29th among defensive linemen and sixth among recruits from Illinois. The Palatine native chose Michigan over the other three schools in his top four: Texas A&M , Tennessee and Nebraska.
Williams is the third defensive lineman in the 2025 class to commit to Michigan, joining four-star Nate Marshall and four-star Bobby Kanka . He’s also the fifth overall player to commit to the Wolverines, joining four-star quarterback Carter Smith and four-star tight end Eli Owens .
Over the last three seasons, the Wolverines have developed more than a few defensive linemen into NFL players, including Aidan Hutchinson, David Ojabo, Mike Morris, Mazi Smith, Kris Jenkins and Jaylen Harrell. Michigan has prioritized dominating in the trenches, and adding talented players like Williams only helps Michigan improve on a position group that has been a big strength for years.
