I still remember the first time I watched “The Conjuring” years ago. It scared me so much that I had to sleep with the lights on the first night. Since then, I have continued to watch the movies, even though I was scared. So when “The Conjuring: Last Rites” came out on Sept. 5, I knew I had to see it on opening weekend.
I decided to watch the movie with my friends a week or two after it went out. We were all excited but also a little scared knowing this would be a horror movie.
Michael Chaves directed the movie, and the lead actors are Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, who play paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.
The late 1980s is when the film takes place. Ed and Lorraine Warren are called to assist a small city haunted by a powerful and evil spirit. As they investigate further, they discover that this haunting is connected to their own history. Because of that connection, everything feels deeper.
There are many scary scenes in “Last Rites,” much like in the other “Conjuring” films, for someone who is easily scared.
What I liked most about “The Conjuring: Last Rites” was how it mixed scary scenes with real emotion. The movie had lots of creepy moments that made me jump, but it also had quiet scenes that showed the love between Ed and Lorraine.
The movie has a mix of horror and emotion. The leading actors had good performances. You can see how much Ed and Lorraine love each other, even when they’re facing something terrifying. Their bond is what keeps them strong. Farmiga especially stands out. Her acting shows both courage and fear at the same time. The title “Last Rites” fits perfectly. It’s about the final chapter of their story, but it also has a spiritual meaning. Their bond is what keeps them strong. What is fascinating about the story is that those people are real and based on a true story.
There were a few slow parts, especially in the middle when the movie explains the demon’s history. Some side characters didn’t have much to do in this story. But the ending was pretty good. For the last movie of the series, it was a strong finish that gave fans both the scares they expected and the emotional goodbye the characters deserved.
After the movie ended, my friends and I talked about it, and when I came home, I was scared as usual. Overall, “The Conjuring: Last Rites” was a great ending to the series. It had strong acting and was a scary movie, depending on your tolerance for scary movies.
