Five days after punching its ticket to the NCAA Tournament, Oakland men’s basketball now has its seed and matchup for March Madness. The Golden Grizzlies (23-11) have officially earned a No. 14 seed in the NCAA Tournament and will face No. 3 seed Kentucky (23-9) in the first round of the tournament.
Oakland appears in the South Region, in which the No. 1 seed is Houston and the No. 2 seed is Marquette.
Greg Kampe and the Golden Grizzlies will head to Pittsburgh, where they will take on John Calipari and the Wildcats on Thursday, March 21. The winner of Thursday’s game between the Golden Grizzlies and Wildcats will take on the winner of No. 6 seed Texas Tech and No. 11 seed NC State.
Oakland will have four days to prepare for one of the nation’s most recognizable college basketball teams. Kentucky will be in search of its ninth national championship, while Oakland will be looking for its first-ever NCAA Tournament victory.
