The past year has been a banner one for Taylor Swift, as she’s been not only supporting her future husband Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2025-26 season but also making waves on her own. Swift released her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” on October 3, and the album has seen record-breaking success, which is no surprise at all.
“I wanted melodies that were so infectious that you were almost angry at it and lyrics that are just as vivid, but crisp and focused and completely intentional,” Swift said of the sound and style of “The Life of a Showgirl” during her appearance on Travis Kelce and his brother Jason’s “New Heights” podcast in August 2025.
Regarding recording the album, she said, “I would be playing three shows in a row, I’d have three days off. I’d fly to Sweden, go back to the tour, and I was pretty exhausted at this point in the tour, but I was so mentally simulated and so excited to be creating.”
Now, as Kelce makes his retirement decision, Swift has some exciting news about the success of her album.

Thanks to the success of Swift’s new album, Republic Records set a new industry-leading mark for current market share. “For the past two years, Republic has set a new industry-leading mark for current market share, finishing 2023 at 13.47% and 2024 at 14.90% — numbers that were well above the rest of the competition,” Billboard reports in a Wednesday, January 28 feature .
They add, “In 2025, they went even better, finishing the year at a 16.04% current share, closer to that of the entire independent music community by distribution (20.17%) than its nearest competitor, Interscope Geffen A&M (9.62%), which finished in second place.”
What’s wild is that Swift’s album was so big that in the fourth quarter alone, the album accounted for 9.07% of the current market share for the period, according to Billboard, “with Republic’s fourth-quarter current market share a jaw-dropping 22.50% — not far off Sony’s 23.94% for the quarter.” Also, for the full 2025 year, Swift’s album accounted for 2.49% current share, even though it was out for just the last three months.
So, Swift and her record label are once again making history, proving they are a dynamic duo.
