Sweet 16 Open Thread

Four games on Thursday and four more on Friday. Who will advance?

Well, it has been a big pile of chalk so far in this year’s NCAA Tournament. Madness has been at a minimum. As we begin the Sweet 16 tonight, we still have all four 1-seeds, three 2-seeds, three 3-seeds, and three 4-seeds. There is only one double-digit seed still in the field, 10-seed Arkansas. All sixteen teams come from just four conferences, the SEC (7), Big Ten (4), Big 12 (4), and ACC (1). And I think we have only had one buzzer-beating winner so far when Maryland’s Derik Queen hit a shot to knock out Colorado State last weekend.

Let’s see what the second weekend’s schedule of games brings us. The Sweet 16 begins tonight with four games followed by four more tomorrow. Here is the schedule:

Thursday:

7:09 PM – #6 BYU vs. #2 Alabama

7:39 PM – #4 Maryland vs. #1 Florida

9:39 PM – #4 Arizona vs. #1 Duke

10:09 PM – #10 Arkansas vs. #3 Texas Tech

Friday:

7:09 PM – #6 Ole Miss vs. #2 Michigan State

7:39 PM – #3 Kentucky vs. #2 Tennessee

9:39 PM – #5 um vs. #1 Auburn

10:09 PM – #4 Purdue vs. #1 Houston

By the way, here are the current standings in the TOC Bracket Challenge.

3rd place (tie): rcnrng

3rd place (tie): yooper_4_life

2nd place: fishiganstate

1st place: Spartan29

Let’s see what the standing look like after this weekend.
