Let’s take a trip down memory lane
Welcome to the first article of summer. Hope you are all handling the heat wave (assuming everyone is dealing with one, not just me in Detroit).
So my neighbors’ youngest son just graduated high school and has made the wise decision to attend Michigan State University in the fall. When I heard this news from them, I could not help but become a little sentimental. I naturally started thinking about my four years as a Spartan student.
For today’s open thread, let’s all share our favorite memories of our time at Michigan State. I guess there are no official rules here, so if you did not attend MSU, feel free to comment with your favorite time visiting campus.
For me, it all starts at the beginning. Freshman year Welcome Week. My father helped me move into Snyder Hall on a Wednesday. I had a loft built in my dorm room, something I had looked forward to since I was nine and we moved my big brother into his dorm. That night I went to a party at some fraternity house and met my first new friends. The next day I went and bought a bike and my textbooks at SBS. Another party that night, as well as Friday night. Saturday was my first MSU football game, with a visit from a ranked Colorado State team (we lost). Another party that night. And Sunday I spent across Bogue Street in Cedar Village hanging out with some new friends for some day drinking before going to bed for my first day of college courses (Econ 101 at 9:10 AM). Those five days were more fun than anything I did in high school, and by default my life. I knew the next four years would be wonderful.
Let’s hear from you. What is your favorite East Lansing memory?
