He’ll be joining the team in 2026
MSU landed a big commitment for 2026 with Carlos Medlock Jr signing yesterday. Medlock had offers from Michigan, Tennessee, Creighton, Iowa and Washington, among others. Medlock said, “I chose Michigan State because I genuinely feel that I have a real connection with the whole coaching staff and they make me feel like I’m home. I see it as a program where I can go in and help take my game to the next level. They will help me become a better person off the court.” This was reported by Paul Biancardi of ESPN. That is a nice quote to hear coming from the three star recruit who seems to have an understanding of what it means to play Spartan Basketball.
Medlock will be playing his senior season in Missouri at Link Academy. He averaged 24.9 points, 6 rebounds and 4.8 assists last season for Wayne Memorial as he helped lead his team to the MHSAA State Championship game. He’s set to have an official visit the weekend of September 5 and will likely be in attendance at the BC football game.
An inside source who’s seen him play a decent amount compares him to Tyson Walker. He said, “He’s extremely quick both laterally and when attacking the rim. Great body control, deep range with exceptional three pointer and jump shot. Quick hands and a pest to drive past as a defender. Down size is he is undersized in height and weight. This could lead to struggling against bigger bodied guards in the Power 5 conferences. Seems like a quiet kid who may need to develop his leadership and voice.”
It sounds like transferring to Link Academy will be good for his development. Good signing for the Spartans to land a scoring PG who already has good skills and wants to develop and get better.
