Let’s look at what the writers are saying after week 7
There were some unbelievable games this past weekend, with a number of top ten teams being involved in games coming down to the wire. One team that did not deal with any drama was last week’s co-#1 team Texas, who trampled over Oklahoma. Let’s see if that was enough to keep them at the top of our rankings or if Oregon’s thriller over Ohio State catapults them to number one.
10. LSU – 20 points
9. Iowa State – 21 points
8. Alabama – 26 points
7. Clemson – 28 points
6. Miami -52 points
5. Georgia – 66 points
4. Ohio State – 73 points
3. Penn State – 79 points
2. Oregon – 102 points
1. Texas – 107 points
Iowa State and LSU replace Ole Miss and Tennessee this week and the middle of the top ten gets all jumbled around. In the end, Texas holds on to #1, but right below them are three Big Ten teams.
Player Of The Week
A few new names showed up in this conversation in week 7, which was refreshing to see. I guess we are getting tired of repeating Ashton Jeanty here. Honorable mentions go out to Army RB Bryson Daily, Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders, and the entire Oregon offensive line. But this week’s Player of the Week is Penn State TE Tyler Warren. Tyler caught 17 passes for 224 yards with one touchdown and also threw one pass which was completed for a 9-yard pickup. Congratulations, Tyler!
Heisman Watch
The top of these rankings remains the same but a new name has entered the conversation.
4. Dillon Gabriel – 7 points
3. Cam Ward – 9 points
2. Travis Hunter – 13 points
1. Ashton Jeanty – 28 points
Enjoy your week, everyone.
