Phillies Trade Idea Lands Angels’ 37 Home Run Outfielder

November 24, 2025 by Heavy

As MLB’s hot stove season really gets going, the Los Angeles Angels seem to be an early aggressor in the market. After reports from MLB Network’s Jon Morosi that Los Angeles was going to be listening to offers on both Taylor Ward and Jo Adell this offseason, Taylor Ward has already been traded to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for Grayson Rodriguez.

So, what will happen with Jo Adell, who also had a breakout 2025 campaign? Should the Philadelphia Phillies consider making a big splash in the trade market for Adell?

Phillies Should Be Top Destination in Jo Adell Trade

If the Los Angeles Angels are serious about moving both slugging outfielders, the Philadelphia Phillies should be a top destination to send Adell to. This trade idea could be similar to the other early moves that have taken place this offseason. A player-swap deal that would send Jo Adell to the Phillies in return for All-Star third baseman Alec Bohm.

If the Angels don’t want Bohm in return, the Phillies have prospect capital, or could also offer either Nick Castellanos or Bryson Stott. Philadelphia’s front office, run by Dave Dombrowski, is expected to be a big player this offseason, and making this deal could be the first step towards that.

Jo Adell

Jo Adell enjoyed his best season as a pro in 2025. He enjoyed career-highs in home runs (37), RBI (98), 2B (18), and OPS+ (111). Philadelphia is thought to have a big need in the outfield, especially if Harrison Bader does not sign with the Phillies, and Castellanos is the subject of trade rumors or being outright released.

It took a few years for Adell to figure it out at the big league level, but he seems to have found his power stroke over the past two seasons. Adell also comes with team control through the 2028 season.

Should the Phillies Get Rid of Alec Bohm?

Alec Bohm, being the other part of this trade, is what makes it interesting. Both Bohm and Adell have been at the forefront of trade rumors for a while now, but this player swap makes sense for both sides.

Bohm was named an All-Star in 2024, but he faced some regression in 2025. However, Bohm has posted an OPS+ over 100 in four straight seasons. He doesn’t have the power upside like Adell, but he has a slightly better glove and may be more affordable when his free agency rolls around in 2027.

As the offseason progresses, both Bohm and Adell will likely continue to garner trade talks, but it will be an interesting storyline to follow in MLB to see what each organization chooses to do.
