O has some news to share
Happy Saturday TOC. Hope you all enjoyed your week. I am interrupting our regular Spartan coverage to share a personal note. But in an effort to not make this just about me, I am going to give you all a chance to comment and share your upcoming plans.
Graduation has passed, the weather has warmed up, and it is the quiet time of year in East Lansing. Unfortunately for us, we are no longer in college (do we count any current MSU students as readers?). But summer is still summer, and those warmer temperatures will always create a desire for outdoor activities and travel. So in our latest effort to fill this slow news time, we are opening it up to you to share your plans for the next few months. Who has an epic vacation planned? Who has some family news to share? Who is finally going to do that yardwork they have been putting off the last few years? Whatever your plans are, we want to hear about it.
Okay, back to me and my big news. I am just two days away from opening a new business in Detroit where I live. On May 19, I am launching a group fitness studio in the Motor City called Renaissance Group Fitness. For those of you who live and/or work in the city, or nearby, I would like to invite you to come check it out and participate in some classes. You can sign up for a 7-day trial on my website: Renaissance Group Fitness . There are several different class formats. All ages and levels of physical conditioning welcome. Hope to see some of you there. And please help spread the word to any friends and family you have in the D.
As for my fellow TOC writers, here is what they are up to.
Brian: Nothing too crazy here, Memorial Day we’ll head to spend time with cousins in the Philly area, which should involve a good amount of grilled deliciousness (and likely also helping them ready their pool upon arrival). The rest of the summer will include alternately dodging / assisting tourists here in DC. I’ll travel back to the Midwest to check in on my pops at some point. Maybe a few little escapes to places like Annapolis, the MD shore, or Shenandoah NP in the meantime.
Steve: This summer I’ll be directing three different musicals with kids. I’m also finishing my fairytale adaptation of a script for the stage. Maybe some light travel but mostly work and enjoying summer things with the family.
Mike: After a year, I am still trying to make a successful career transition – finishing up one internship and starting another in the next few weeks. Also wrapping up the second of two online programs in the next month or so. Hopefully all of that leads to a relatively enjoyable job that pays enough to get by out here in California. Speaking of the Golden State, it’s usually always summer-like out here so I do try to appreciate and enjoy it whenever possible. Also, one MSU side note – I came across and started reading a book by Dr. David Kaufman: “We Need You in the Locker Room: A Neurologist’s Journey Behind the Scenes of Major College Football”. He’s a professor at MSU and became the team neurologist during the Dantonio years. Interesting so far.
Happy summering, TOC!
