4-star WR continues Spartans’ hot June on the recruiting trail
Jonathan Smith earned another commitment to his 2026 recruiting class, and this one may be his biggest win yet. Tyren Wortham is a 4-star wide receiver from Sarasota, FL, where he plays for Booker High School. This is a significant recruitment not just for his 4-star rating, but also the fact that he was previously committed to another program, Central Florida. After taking an official visit this past weekend, he has now flipped to Michigan State. He is 6’0” tall and 175 pounds.
With Wortham, the Spartans now have two WRs in the 2026 class along with 3-star Zachary Washington. The 15th commit to MSU in the month of June now has the class at 19 total players, nine of which are on the offensive side of the ball.
Tyren Wortham is now the third 4-star member of this class according to the 247 Composite Rankings. The other two are QB Kayd Coffman and OT Collin Campbell. 247 now has our Spartans at #24 in their class rankings for 2026.
We shall see if the momentum continues with more commitments from players who took official visits this past weekend.
In bad news, though, the first and only member of MSU’s 2027 class, 4-star safety Khalil Terry, has decommitted.
