Jeremy Fears was on his holiday break and near his hometown when he was reportedly wounded in the leg due to a shooting.
Jeremy Fears jr. was shot in the leg early Saturday morning while visiting his hometown over the holiday break. The injury to the highly touted freshman point guard is not life threatening according to Michigan State .
In a statement released by the University, coach Tom Izzo stated: “Jeremy underwent surgery this morning and is resting comfortably. While there is much we still don’t know, my focus is on supporting Jeremy on his road to recovery.”
The Joliet, Illinois police released a statement on Facebook that appeared to be about the incident.
According to the statement:
The safety of Jeremy Fears and the unnamed other victim are most important at this time. It is a relief that the injuries are non life threatening.
