What’s happening in the annual summer pro-am with one week to go?
Last week, Steve provided a week 3 update on the annual summer pro am basketball league featuring most of the MSU players. Here, we’ll take a look at what’s happened since then. Information proved a little hard to come by for Moneyball but we were able to find out a few things.
First, a look at the rosters and how the MSU players are divided up among the six teams:

Jesse McCulloch (foot injury rehab), Kaleb Glenn (season-ending knee injury), and the Walton twins are not playing in Moneyball.
The rosters are filled out with players from Albion, Detroit Mercy, Grand Valley State, Great Lakes Christian, Hope, Lansing Community College and other CC’s, Olivet, Toledo, UM Dearborn, and some other schools plus some recent college grads.
Going into the last week, Tri Star (Cooper and Fears) are tied with Motorcars (Ward and Carr) atop the standings with identical 6-2 records. Faygo, with Ugochukwu and Kohler, are one game behind at 5-3. Here are the full standings going into the fifth and final week:

Tri Star and Motorcars each opened last week with a win before falling in their Thursday game. Team Faygo won both of their games to draw within one game of the leaders. Here are the results from last week’s games:

As expected, the Spartan players make up most of the league’s scoring leaders through 8 games. Coen Carr leads the way with 40.9 points per game and is followed closely by Trey Fort at 38.5. Former Spartan Pierre Brooks is third at 34 ppg but has played in just one game for Team Tri Star. Spartans occupy 6 of the next 7 spots in the top 10:

Finally, after last year, three point shooting might be of some interest to MSU fans. It’s not clear if Moneyball tracks the actual shooting percentages – we couldn’t find any such stats – but they do keep track of makes and it looks like the Spartans are finding the bottom of the net at least once in a while. Trey Fort is averaging 5.5 made threes per game to lead Moneyball. Incoming freshman Jordan Scott is making 4 per game followed by Kur Teng at 3.4, Coen Carr with 2.9, and Nick Sanders at 2.6. Divine Ugochukwu is making 2.2 after struggling to shoot the three last year at Miami.
Moneyball wraps up its 2025 season this week with games on Tuesday and Thursday at Holt High School.
