One of the biggest news coming out of Monday Night Raw was AJ Styles becoming part of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2026, and John Cena might have a role to play in his induction.
Last Monday’s show in Atlanta culminated with Styles officially confirming his retirement to become a full-time husband and father. He put his vest and gloves in the middle of the ring, signaling the end of one of the greatest careers in pro wrestling history.
As the entire WWE locker room was applauding Styles at the end of the show, The Undertaker came out and informed his friend that he was the latest inductee in this year’s Hall of Fame.
Styles will be joining Stephanie McMahon, who also found out about her induction from The Undertaker back in September at Wrestlepalooza.
Styles’ WWE resumé speaks for itself. He’s a two-time WWE Champion, a one-time Intercontinental Champion, a three-time United States Champion and a two-time World Tag Team Champion. He also had a storied career with TNA Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Cena’s Role in Styles’ HOF Induction
According to BodySlam+ , John Cena is reportedly being considered as the one to induct AJ Styles into the WWE Hall of Fame. Cena and Styles had a storied rivalry before The GOAT became a part-timer in the mid-2010s. They had several memorable matches, with their story culminating at Crown Jewel: Perth .
Another stellar choice would be none other than The Undertaker. Styles was The Deadman’s final opponent, so they also have history. It will be interesting to see which legend will introduce The Phenomenal One as a WWE Hall of Famer in April.
Is Cena Getting Inducted This Year?
John Cena and AJ Styles were both retired by Gunther in a span of less than two months. The Ring General made Cena tap out at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, while Styles passed out in the 2026 Royal Rumble.
While Styles is set to become a Hall of Famer immediately, WWE seems to be reserving Cena for a different year and class, as reported by WrestleVotes Radio via Fightful Select back in January.
“John Cena is not expected to be a part of this year’s Hall of Fame Class,” WrestleVotes said . “Most in WWE expect Stephanie McMahon to be the headliner of this year’s edition, and that an ‘immortal moment’ induction is expected this year as well.”
Despite being the face of WWE for more than a decade, Cena will have to wait for his turn. His busy schedule as a Hollywood actor should also be taken into consideration. Batista’s induction has been delayed for six years because of his filming schedule.
Cena Comments on Styles’ Future After Retirement
Speaking to Sports Illustrated , John Cena shared his thoughts on AJ Styles’ future now that he’s officially retired.
“He has earned the right to do whatever he damn well wants. He has spent so much of his life really risking his health for all of the fans of sports entertainment,” Cena said.
While Cena’s focus will be on his acting career, Styles is going to be a family man. He’s also been linked to a coaching role, which is vital to the future of WWE.
