The Spartans return home for their week 3 game. Here’s what you need to know.
Michigan State is now 2-0 including a conference road win last week at Maryland. This weekend, they are back in East Lansing to take on what could be the easiest opponent on this year’s schedule. If you have not yet, check out Mike’s preview on the Prairie View A&M Panthers . Here are some last notes to get you ready for the game.
Michigan State vs. Prairie View
When: Saturday, September 14 @ 3:30 PM EST
Where: Spartan Stadium; East Lansing, MI
TV: Big Ten Network
Radio: Local listings , online or on the app
Betting: None (FCS opponents don’t get spreads and over/unders)
Predictions:
Mike: 38-6 Spartans
Steve: 31-10 Spartans
Brian: Prairie View comes in as mid-upper part of their league in several key stats – offensive and defensive. Though standouts are: 2nd in passing offense (22nd in FCS) but near the bottom in completion percentage. Also 81st (of 115 FCS teams) in rushing offense.
Other key stats for PVAM: they are 104th and 88th in sacks allowed & TFL allowed in the FCS, 113th in penalty yards per game. Total defense is 23rd, pass efficiency defense is 19th.
My hunch is the Spartans will have a good opportunity to get some younger guys working on the O line and defensive backfield – with a few more throws to the younger guys as well. So we may see a few more errors than preferred, but if our guys get rollin’ 3 TDs each half seems achievable (maybe one on defense) with a FG.
45-7 Good Guys.
O: I’m just glad all the writers picked MSU this week. 38-13 Spartans!
Don’t forget to tune into TOC for the game thread. It will open two hours before game time.
And after the game, we will have a post-game recap up within a couple hours as well as more reviews the next day.
