One more game in Hawaii, plus the women have a game tonight in Palm Springs
We get two hoops games tonight, with the ladies up first. After a comeback victory yesterday over California (they were down 12 entering the 4th quarter), MSU plays in the championship game of the Acrisure Holiday Invitational. Their opponent today will be Vanderbilt, giving us a battle of 7-0 teams. The game will be at 4:30 PM EST and it will be televised on truTV.
For the men, after last night’s disappointing loss to Memphis, we are playing in the 3rd place game of the Maui Invitational. Our opponent will be North Carolina, who fell to Auburn in the late game last night. Hopefully they are going to be very tired for this one. The game tips off at 9:30 PM EST and will be on ESPN2. UNC is favored by 4.5 and the over/under is 156.5.
Both MSU and UNC are 4-2 so far this year, and both teams have a loss to Kansas already. This is the team that dispatched us in the 2nd round of last year’s NCAA Tourney, though the only two starters back from that team are guards RJ Davis and Elliot Cadeau. Those two, along with guard Seth Trimble, a reserve on last year’s squad, are the only Tar Heels averaging double-digits. So this is another team like Memphis that is dominated by its perimeter players. Hopefully we learned some things last night.
And speaking of learning things, hey guys, it’s spelled Fidler, not Fiddler.
Y’all know what to do here.
