What to do when the Spartans aren’t playing
For the first weekend this season, there will be no MSU football game. I wanted to say “the first Saturday”, but there was that unfortunate scheduling mishap that was the Oregon game. Fortunately for us football-obsessed types, there are several games that should be more competitive than the last couple outings by our Spartans.
Here’s a look at some of the big games scheduled for this Saturday. All times eastern.
12 PM: South Carolina at #7 Alabama (okay, this should not be a close game; I just want to see Alabama take their frustrations out on someone)
3:30 PM: #1 Texas at #18 Oklahoma (the first SEC version of the Red River Shootout)
3:30 PM: #4 Penn St. at USC (a week ago, this would have been a matchup of top-12 teams)
7:30 PM: #2 Ohio St. at #3 Oregon (remember when the SEC dominated the top of the rankings?)
7:30 PM: #9 Ole Miss at #13 LSU (a possible playoff eliminator as the loser will have a second loss)
11 PM: #17 Boise St. at Hawaii (if you are up late, watch Ashton Jeanty do Ashton Jeanty things)
Oh, and if you need a break from all that football there is a somewhat important baseball game going on.
1:08 PM: Detroit Tigers at Cleveland Indians Guardians (winner advances to the ALCS)
So what are your plans for this weekend? What are you watching? Where are you watching it? Who are you cheering for? What’s in your glass? Or are you taking a break from sports since you only care about your Spartans?
Enjoy your weekend everyone.
