Much-maligned Buffalo Bills playcaller Joe Brady won both professionally and in life Sunday.
The Bills offensive coordinator earned a game ball after Buffalo picked up a win on the same day his wife gave birth to the couple’s second child and first girl.
Brady, 36, has been the Bills offensive coordinator since he took over for Ken Dorsey midseason in 2023. He has been an offensive coach in the Bills system since 2022 and helped Bills quarterback Josh Allen win the AP NFL MVP in 2024 then become the NFL career rushing touchdown leader.
Brady will try to go 2-0 as a girl dad when Buffalo hosts the Cincinnati Bengals (4-8) on Sunday.
Joe Brady Earned A Game Ball From Josh Allen
Allen received one of the Bills’ two game balls from head coach Sean McDermott for scoring his 76th career touchdown in Buffalo’s 26-7 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday at Acrisure Stadium.
Yet, after McDermott also gave a ball to cornerback Christian Benford — who scored his first NFL touchdown on a third-quarter fumble recover — Allen spoke up and offered the team the good news.
“Offensive coordinator Joe Brady. Baby girl. Today,” Allen said before giving the commemorative football to Brady while the Bills applauded him.
McDermott then offered the Bills a Victory Monday — meaning they had the day off — where Brady could, presumably, spend the day with his wife and new daughter in the hospital.

Bills Mafia Turned Up To Congratulate Joe Brady On His New Addition
Bills fans have been outspoken against Brady, the same way most fans get frustrated by their offensive and defensive playcallers when they watch their team a lot.
But Bills Mafia is one of the NFL’s most outspoken, and generous, fan bases, and they spoke out in support of their OC and the family addition — he and his wife also have a son.
“Congrats Joe, letâs get to business,” @caligula_legion posted on X. “Itâs time to win it for her.”
“Congrats on the baby!” @Nevermore916. “Halftime adjustments were great. Keep it up!!!”
“Congrats on your baby girl and the BIG WIN !!” @tombillssabres posted.
“Girls are AWESOME,” @amybfloBillsmom shared.
Still, Brady’s post, and family addition, did not survive the wrath of other Bills fans, who took the coach to task the offense’s underwhelming first-half performance before it righted the ship against the Steelers.
“Coach good win, but multiple teams/players have said our plays our extremely predictable,” @hail_Kozakistan posted on X. “Gotta adjust.”
“The Bills should give him the rest of the season off to bond with said child,” @foxfile23 shared.
“That warrants a game ball?” @FormerListless posted. “IMO game balls shoukd be for what happens during the game. Brady should be grateful he still has a job.”
The Bills put up 372 total yards despite Allen’s anemic 15 for 23, 123-yard performance through the air. Buffalo finished with 249 rushing yards, and Allen had 38 yards and the touchdown, which left multiple fans to beg for Buffalo to improve its aerial attack and ditch screen passes.
“Please develop a pass game,” @HRJames2 shared.
“No more wr screens,” posted @__TJ_17__.
