Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Tennessee Titans: Thursday Night Football open thread

Marcus Mariota and the Tennessee Titans make their second prime-time appearance in two weeks as they cling to hope in the race for the AFC playoffs.

For the first time in a long time, the AFC South is debatably not the weakest division in football. The Jacksonville Jaguars sit at 4-8 heading into Thursday night’s matchup against the Tennessee Titans and while that’s good for last place in the AFC South, they wouldn’t be too far out of the picture in some other divisions (looking at you, NFC East).

The Jaguars haven’t lived up to the bar they set last year, when they lost to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game. While their season is essentially lost, the team is still playing with purpose—just ask Andrew Luck. The Jaguars defense shut the Colts out 6-0 in Week 13 for Luck’s first goose egg of his career.

While the red-hot Houston Texans are running away with the division, the Titans are still very much in the thick of the wild card race in the AFC. First-year head coach Mike Vrabel has made the most of his offensive carousel, as star players like Marcus Mariota , Delanie Walker , and Taylor Lewan have missed significant time, but the team is somehow still clinging to life. A loss against the Jaguars would all but eliminate them from playoff contention, but a win could go a long way in the race.

Can Marcus Mariota pull it off in primetime? Will Jalen Ramsey and the Jaguars force another goose egg? Can Cody Kessler find a way to get the Jaguars offense moving? Let us know what you think in the comments.
