Open thread: Do you want the Detroit Lions to beat the Arizona Cardinals?

Are we still hoping for wins?

The Detroit Lions are at the point in the season in which playoffs are a distant, distant hope. Like we’re beyond the “So you’re telling me there’s a chance” Dumb and Dumber GIF.

Okay, maybe Detroit’s chances are better than “one in a million,” I’m just tired of that quote being summoned (which now guarantees at least one of you will post in the comment section).

Regardless, with the Lions’ chances for postseason play near astronomical, it creates a conundrum. A win will undoubtedly feel good, and potentially bring some hope for 2019, but a loss may technically give the Lions a better chance of being better in the future, improving their draft position oh so slightly.

There’s also the fact that this is the Arizona Cardinals we’re talking about here. They may have beaten the Packers last week, but they still aren’t very good. Their offense is completely devastated by injury, and could you really take this team losing to another rookie quarterback?

So today’s Question of the Day is:

Do you want the Lions to win this week vs. the Cardinals?

My answer: Of course I do. The stakes are certainly much lower, meaning I certainly won’t be as heartbroken if they lose.

But there’s already so much negativity surround this team right now, and a loss to the Cardinals could set some fans over the edge. After losing five of their last six, this locker room needs a win to just feel better heading into the offseason. And if it costs the Lions four or five positions in the draft, so be it.

Your turn.
